Blue Peter – High Output!

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010
Lulu and the elephant, Tracy Island, desperately waiting for your mum to finish with her washing-up bottle – remind you of anything – it has to be Blue Peter?! The national treasure is in its 52nd year this year and continues to go from strength to strength. The long running BBC children’s TV show has seen numerous, guests, pets, presenters and badges! This week Disney Channel diva Selena Gomez and her band The Scene perform her latest single ‘Round and Round’ in the Blue Peter garden.Richard Martin Lighting continues to support Lighting Designer Lee Allen in bringing a fresh and energetic look to the ever more contemporary show.
Our recently purchased Global Design Solution (GDS) Liteware HO-Uplighters were the focal of the music number; 24 of them positioned around the trees, stage and tree house.
These new RGB Battery HO Uplighter with Wireless DMX are a truly stand alone controllable light source.12 hours permanent use from the integral battery, wireless DMX control and Full RGB LED colour. GDS is the same footprint as the standard version and is calibrated to deliver colour-matched output.

When recently asked about Uplighters Lee said …..

‘How cool to have a totally cable free lighting fixture, so simple to move, quick to reposition to get the most out of the lamp when the shot changes. They were used to up light bits of the garden and facing towards the cameras for some eye candy for the music number. As always the close up of the guest had nothing behind them but that wasn’t a problem I just picked up the lamp repositioned it, no mess, no hassle just light where it was needed.’ ISomeone recently took great pleasure in telling me that there are less than 90 sleeps until Christmas and the show is encouraging children to design their own greeting cards, with all proceedings going to Whizz-Kidz, which helps disabled children lead more fun and active lives. A great cause and one to keep the little ones occupied on the cold, dark nights so get out the fuzzy felts, crate paper, PVA glue, pens and get them designing! Actually it sounds like great fun…I wonder if adults can join in too?!
