Arnolfini

Brief

GDS conducted the Lighting Design For Arts Venue, at The Arnolfini. A venue dedicated to producing and presenting visual arts, performance, dance, film, music and events.

Recognised for its extraordinary commitment to broadening participation and engagement with the arts, the Arnolfini were looking ahead to ensure the venue’s lighting was able to keep up with the diverse application use it required.

GDS worked closely with the Arnolfini Building Operations team to understand the exact lighting requirements for the art venue and find ways in which fittings can be positioned and adapted for optimum effect, across 3 floors of common parts areas and the gift shop.

Approach

Following an on-site survey with the client to better understand how the diverse selection of spaces could benefit from different luminaire requirements, our in-house Lighting Design team were tasked with producing a range of luminaire specification options.

Showcasing a mix of 3D renders, false colour renders and parts lists, the team shared full lighting schemes with the client to customise their products to their exact requirements.

Outcome

Throughout the project, GDS was on hand to tailor the luminaire specification to meet the demand of each assigned space at the Arnolfini. Following the upgrade, the venue now benefits from more energy efficient lighting across the site.

Our extensive range of customisable LEDs has meant that we could supply the clients with exactly what they were looking for, helping to deliver their vision and complete the look for this revolutionary new approach for the Arnolfini.
