Located in Douglas on the Isle of Man, Celtic House is the brand-new, super headquarters for telecoms provider Plan.com. The interior adopts beautiful natural materials throughout to create a contemporary, yet timeless feel. A highly innovative, and creative team with a decorated history of employee care and wellbeing, Celtic House had some exceptional standards to maintain.

GDS were introduced to this landmark project by our partners at ELS on the Isle of Man. Initially approached to take responsibility for the office’s dynamic atrium space. This influence grew quickly to incorporate lighting throughout the interior and exterior of the building, encompassing a wide selection of our core ranges, and multiple custom elements designed in close collaboration with the team. GDS worked closely with the client and interior design team to create a lighting design that compliments and enhances this striking space.

Solutions Provided

The Celtic House project truly allowed the GDS design team to utilise all of the tools at their disposal to create a stunning lighting scheme that runs throughout the whole building, including the facade, atrium, office areas and board rooms.

Visitors to Celtic House are greeted by an impressive and inviting atrium. Arcturus profiles spread out from the centre of the space like wooden beams. Custom designed with tapered housings, these linear luminaires are equipped with stunning pixel-addressable light engines to produce impressive light shows and dynamic scenes. A truly unique vision of ELS and the client, delivered by the highly talented special projects team here at GDS.

As the scope of the project grew, so did the range of products and solutions required to meet the client’s ambition. In total, 18no. Drive Hub card frames were utilised to empower this installation. Not only is Celtic House one of the UK’s most breathtaking commercial spaces, it is now also one of the most intelligent, accessible, and efficient lighting installations in the world.

"Well over three years in the making, this project has been a labour of love for almost everyone here at GDS. The huge efforts of our sales, design, engineering, and manufacturing teams have produced something very special indeed."
