Insurance giants Zurich has moved hundreds of employees into it’s new 100,000sq ft offices in Swindon.

The £39 million project began in the summer of 2020 and delivers the first new office space to the heart of Swindon in a generation. Kick starting the re-development of the flagship Kimmerfields site.

Targeted to be BREEAM Excellent, the building places in the top 10% of non-residential buildings in the UK for sustainability.

GDS were originally approached in early 2019 by the hugely talented electrical team at Hoare Lea to discuss the suitability of the Arcturus for a new commercial scheme. What evolved, was our largest commercial project to date.

Solutions Provided

Unity Place has been a labour of love for the team at GDS. Initial enquiries regarding our linear products quickly grew to incorporate numerous elements from GDS’ core product ranges. We were honoured to be trusted with the lighting design, layouts and calculations across the entirety of this substantial scheme. Our expert engineering team has been involved from start to finish and have been on hand to provide focused support to the on-site teams.

Boasting over 2000 individual GDS fixtures, Unity Place has been a significant undertaking across every department. The collective efforts of our design, engineering and manufacturing teams have successfully delivered one of our most challenging schemes to date. From the wonderful design teams at MATT Architecture and Hoare Lea, through to the boots on the ground at Skanska, GDS were delighted to work with you all on such a remarkable project.

"It has been a pleasure working with GDS on Project Norwood, throughout the design phase they have offered support and solutions, using their in-house design expertise to demonstrate product performance to support the project and satisfy the clients requirements. Communication levels have always been maintained along with regular site visits to resolve any issues and discuss alternative solutions. "
